I don't get it, there are 10 classes in the game but some people don't see the benefit of having more than 1.
"Oh noes i'm a Rit and they won't me in, life sucks!"
No! You're not a Rit, you're a player in a game callled Guild Wars and the makers have kindly seen fit to allow you to make more then one class of character to allow players to branch out and not just play the same thing for 3 bloody years.
And don't give me "Oh but its my main."
You dont have to play every character through every game and max every title and do every quest and get max weapons for every stupid hero. I have 6 chars and only one of them has completed every campaign, the others can get as far as to where they are at somewhere useful. (My poor little monk can only go to ToA, bless her)
Seriously, use another character to DOA and stop whining.
oh and /notsigned to suggestion.

If someone wanted to do DOA on his main to get statue in HOM I would disagree with your attitude but since it is for gems I fully agree with what you wrote.
@OP you cannot get everything on the silver plate. If you restrict yourself to play with your main then you have to face all the possible drawbacks it brings. There is no need to have NPC like that. It will make it all much too easy and will destroy satisfaction several people had when they finally managed to get those stones by themselves.

Reminder for everyone :: All that a trader NPC does is RESELLING what players sold to him and efficiently speeding up the trades. He won't generate gems out of thin air so they will still need to be farmed before people will be able to buy them. It's just a trading improvement, not an easy way to get gems.
And trade improvements are always good.

As too all of you saying I want things on a silver plate,
I do not, but since they added the Torment weapons to the HoM now it is time to bring them up to pace with the other set of "Elite" weapons represented in our HoMs'.
I truly don't see the issue with what I'm posing.
Allow the gems to be bought, I don't have to farm 110 obsidian shard or 110 diamonds or 1100 iron ingots or how about the 2750 granite cant forget the 55k. why should i need to farm 440 torment gems to get a full set for my hall? The raw amount of money involved just to buy them gems would be enough to bankrupt very wealthy individuals. And that is now, a merchant would allow the price to be controlled by the raw supply, not by the demands of others trying to control the market.
You need to get the gems, you still need to get all of the armbraces, I don't want the armbraces for sale in a merchant, NEVER. I want a means to get the gems which allows it to be realistic and attainable. Whether you choose to farm your gems or to buy them, One way you farm till your eyes bleed to afford the gems, the other, you farm till your eyes bleed collecting the gems.
Either way the end result is identical.

This discussion isn't really about having a new kind of NPC, it's about difficult areas being difficult.
Personally I love the trader concept and wish they were available for everything, but I think the trader we need most is one for inscriptions and mods.

Tomes can be used up, so by your own logic, they deserve a trader too.

Damn right we need one. I am still surprised this hasn't been added.

So people would have to sell their gems to the trader for less than what they could sell them to people for so that the Trader could have inventory to resell.
I don't see the Trader having much of an inventory.
Lykan is right and so are those who say "get a guild team" tbh if you would just sit down and think about how you could make your Ritulist useful in DoA and create a build chances are you would end up having some fun, but no, youd rather spend time QQing and asking that things be handed to you instead of trying.
I have a DoA trophy in my hall, On my Ranger, and I didn't use Ursan to do it, I came up with a R/N build that aided my team mates to the point where they would say "Orange, were are doing DoA and we need you" and I had fun doing it, and I earned my rewards.
OMG PvE is just sooooooooo hard and there are soooooo many elitists, rofl

Doesn't the same argument apply to the other traders? You can sell runes, dye, crafting materials, and rare crafting materials to other players for more than the respective trader would give you. Yet, those traders DO have inventory.
The reverse is also true. You can buy runes, dye, etc. from another player cheaper than you can buy it from the traders. Yet, the traders DO make sales.
Some people are willing to take less from or pay more to traders as an alternative to standing around Kama for an unknown amount of time staring at the walls waiting for a reply to their WTS/WTB. Those who like the trading game can play it. Those who don't can buy/sell from the traders and get back to doing something they enjoy more. Everybody is happy.

I'm genuinely surprised by the hostility,
I am aware of the pvx wiki, I know the builds that get me groups, I'm aware that guild groups exert something called tolerance.
What you don't seem to grasp is that a vendor for the gems will allow a larger section of people to access these elite weapons.
You seem to think that torment weapons will magically get easier to get by the gems being accessible?
Hardly, anyone can tell you that once you have a build that can run the zones, its only a time factor until you get as many or as few weapons as you want.
This is merely allowing you to shorten the damning grind in the game and allow people to run it if they want to, not because they have too.
